About this site

Who Shot Me? helps you find roadside motorcycle photographers around the UK - whether they're live right now, coming up, or already wrapped up from a past ride.

Meet the creator

Peter riding his orange Honda CB500F on a country road

Hi, I'm Peter.

I'm a keen motorcyclist and GIS professional from the Peak District. I first got into riding on a red 2010 Honda CB125, and these days you'll usually find me out on an orange Honda CB500F with a pillion passenger… a Charmander soft toy. It's for the kids… honest!

After seeing the same question appear time and time again in motorcycle Facebook groups - "Who was the photographer at Cat & Fiddle?", "Does anyone know who was at Snake Pass today?" - I realised there had to be a better way.

That's what inspired me to create WhoShotMe.

The aim is simple: make it easy for riders to find photographers, and help photographers reach more riders. By bringing both together in one place, I hope to save riders from endless searching while giving photographers another way to showcase their work.

WhoShotMe is an independent project that I develop in my spare time, and it's continually evolving based on feedback from the motorcycle community. Every suggestion helps shape the platform and where it goes next.

Free to use, and finding/listing shoots always will be. Down the line I might add small optional extras or light advertising to help with running costs.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you find WhoShotMe useful.

Built by a rider, for riders and photographers.

A quick word on safety

I need to be really clear about this: WhoShotMe only exists to help you find photos of yourself, never to encourage anyone to ride differently because a camera's there. Ride your own ride - your pace, your limits, not anyone else's, and never for a photo. No shot is worth pushing beyond what's safe and legal. Please also give photographers a bit of room; they're often stood right at the roadside to get their shot. Same courtesy goes for other drivers, cyclists, walkers, and everyone else out there. However you're getting about, get home safe.

Your privacy

Visiting this site: we keep a simple count of page visits and which photographer links get clicked, entirely within our own systems - no third-party analytics company is involved. No cookies, nothing stored in your browser, nothing that identifies you personally - just anonymous counts.

Location: on first load, the map asks in its own words whether you'd like it centred on your location - dismiss it and nothing happens at all. Say yes (or use the "My location" button below anytime) and only then does your browser show its own separate permission prompt - that part's a conversation between you and your browser, not something WhoShotMe controls. If you allow it, your coordinates are used only to center the map on your device there and then; they're never sent to us, never stored, and never logged anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.

Photographer listings: if you're listed, we store the details needed to run your listing - your name, contact email, logo and website links, and the shoot times/locations you submit. You manage this yourself via your own personal link; contact us (see below) to have your listing removed entirely. We keep this data for as long as you're listed, and delete it once you ask us to.

This runs on Google Sheets/Apps Script (data storage), GitHub Pages (hosting), the OS Data Hub, Esri, and OpenStreetMap (map tiles - whichever basemap you've got selected), postcodes.io / OpenStreetMap's Nominatim (turning a typed postcode or place name into a map location), and images.weserv.nl (resizing a photographer's linked logo down to icon size, so your browser isn't downloading a full-size photo for a tiny marker) - each processes the minimum needed to make their part work.

Photographers: please only submit content you have the rights to post, and keep listings accurate - no illegal or offensive content. Listings that don't meet this may be removed.
